MATI Safe Food

The farmers' cooperative in MATI Eco-village began its giant step toward economic independence with the greater involvement of processing, packaging, and direct marketing of its agricultural produce to consumers. This was something big from mere raw crop production to value addition, with control over distribution channels. Initial product range includes mustard oil, chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and black gram. Besides these core products, the cooperative is also in process for the production of herbal tea, with a total of three varieties processed, namely Rosella, Lemon grass, and Tulsi, which is commonly known as holy basil. It will promote such products through online and offline promotional activities to reach the last customer. The online promotion may include social media marketing, online marketplaces, and, not essentially, having its website. Besides these digital platforms, the cooperative also participates in district-level agricultural fairs. Events like this will provide good opportunities for direct communications with target customers and demonstrations of products to people in the community.
